I have all the current grades in. Your exam is due at the end of the hour tomorrow. If you are missing any blogs and update them, write down which ones you want me to check for partial credit.

Do Not forget to properly cite all facts on your final to a full bibliography.

Working on your project.

First make a green wish again. This time longer with better articulation and detail.

Doing research.

Many of you have projects that involve recycling. The following is a link to recycling in Eaton County.

One connection can be to the Youth Service Day that we will hold here in Eaton Rapids. We need enough good ideas and activities to justify having another Earth Day celebration. Look at this link:

Are we staying Green?
Go to

http://www.michigangreenschools.org/home.html

Is your topic on the list? Should it be?

All these links can help justify why we are doing the project. I also need you to research some hard science behind the actions. What are some chemical reactions that take place. What are some geological or habitat implications? What about resource consumption? I expect some graphs and hard data in your research and results of your project.

By the way don't forget to cite all your sources. Give the url, organization and author, date last updated.

If you have questions ask me.

First Assignment

http://www.nwf.org/ecoschools/sweepstakes.cfm

National Wildlife Federation has teamed up with the movie Shorts and FTL Solar to introduce the Eco-Schools USA: Rock Your Green Wish with the Movie Shorts Sweepstakes.

Students in grades 1 through 12 can post their “green wishes” for their school online through September 17th. The winning school will receive a portable solar tent to be used as an outdoor classroom from FTL Solar.

Submissions are flooding in - Check out what students are wishing:

“I wish that our school had more windows for sun light so that we did not waste so much electricity.”

“I wish teachers would waste less paper by uploading handouts and lessons on the internet, as opposed to printing them off.”

“I want the school to have a green roof, possibly something that could contribute to sustainable agriculture.”

Work with your local schools and the Eco-Schools USA program - greening the building, the grounds and the curriculum. National Wildlife Federation was recently granted official status as the host for Eco-Schools USA. The acclaimed global program provides a framework to help educators and students integrate sustainable principles in their classrooms, schools and communities.

Make your "green wish" today!

Sincerely,

Eliza Signature
